Our clients have made it possible for Gigs4U to bring FREE live entertainment to literally hundreds of thousands of people throughout Seattle and the Northwest since 2013. These music programs have played an incredibly important role supporting local artists, while creating a more enjoyable experience for their guests, customers, staff and anyone else passing by.
Gigs4U created the live music program for the Port of Seattle at Sea-Tac International Airport in March 2013. The Port’s EXPERIENCE THE CITY OF MUSIC is a cooperative effort by the Port of Seattle, the Office of Film + Music, Seattle Music Commission , PlayNetwork and Gigs4U. It is a comprehensive effort to showcase the Northwest’s diverse music culture and enhance the experience of millions of travelers who pass through the airport. In 2013, the program was honored as Best Arrivals Experience by the Future Travel Experience Awards to recognize innovative, ambitious and effective initiatives and organizations in the airline industry. Travelers may experience some of the three live performances programmed by Gigs4U seven days a week at locations throughout the terminal.
DSA and the Metropolitan Improvement District have been working in partnership with the Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Seattle Parks Foundation, Alliance for Pioneer Square, Friends of Westlake Park and Friends of Waterfront Seattle to enhance the experience of visiting Westlake Park, Occidental Park and Waterfront Park. Throughout the summer season, Gigs4U has provided its live music services over the past two years at each of these downtown park locations as part of their effort to help make parks in the Seattle urban core more welcoming and vibrant.
For the past two years Gigs4U has provided live music programming for Seattle’s month-long region-wide, annual summer festival. Our artists have performed at the Summer Fourth at Gasworks Park and South Lake Union, as well as several other Seafair events including the big Seafair Weekend at Genesee Park. We also programmed a summer concert series for Seafair and their sponsor Union Bank at the IBM Plaza on Fifth Avenue and University Street. The highly successful series was part of the Out To Lunch summer concert series produced by DSA, and will return in 2017.
The business model created for the Sea-Tac program proved that Gigs4U could present very high quality musicians and performers at very low cost. Our City Busker programs adapts the same model except the gigs are shorter and the PAs are battery operated. We provide professional support for each gig that includes a “Gig Manager”, a small PA system and simple “staging” of an umbrella, carpet, and table for merchandise sales and tips. We first ran these programs for the city of Seattle from June through October in 2014 and we’re now planning for an expanded 2017 season of live music in the streets and parks around downtown Seattle.
Waterfront Seattle is a momentous civic project that will transform the 2-mile stretch from Pioneer Square to Belltown into a 20-acre vibrant park. Friends of Waterfront Seattle is the not-for-profit established to work with the City of Seattle in ensuring the project’s long-term success as a beautiful, safe and lively public destination.
Gigs4U ran a busker program at two park locations from July through August in 2014, and we are committed to insure the continued presence of live music along Seattle’s vibrant waterfront through 2017.
Gigs4U produced two summer concert series for Seattle Parks and Recreation in 2015 – Free Blues & Cool Jazz with full bands at Freeway Park, and Belltown Beats with solo & duo artists at Belltown Park.
As a result of our successful program for Parks at Belltown Park, the Bell + Whete, one of Seattle’s top restaurants located on Second Ave at Bell Street hired Gigs4U to program live music in their lounge every Friday and Saturday from 10 PM to midnight.
Make Music is a free world wide celebration of music always held on June 21st, Summer Solstice. Launched in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique in France, it is now held on the same day in more than 700 cities (including Seattle!) in over 103 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
